1950s WALTER MOORCROFT - CLEMATIS WITH BUDS PATTERN VASE

A 1950s Walter Moorcroft Clematis With Buds pattern vase, in a rare shape. The Clematis pattern was developed by William Moorcroft in 1938/39 from a flower he picked in his drive at home and the design was executed by Walter Moorcroft from 1946. The Clematis design was used with certain colourways and on certain shapes in very limited numbers. The vase has 2 red and 1 purple clematis flower with 2 pink buds, on a cobalt blue background. The Back Stamp on the underside of the vase has MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND, both impressed in blue. The height of the vase is 5.5 inches, with a diameter of 4 inches at the widest point. The diameter of the mouth of the vase is 1.75 inches. The vase is in excellent condition.

A 1990s Moorcroft Lamp in the Pansy design designed by Rachel Bishop on a high gloss brown glazed background, and fixed onto the original turned wood base. It has blue, pink and cream flowers, with green leaves. The shade and lamp base are original. Height of lamp base is 9 inches, and lamp shade is 9 inches high. In excellent condition. Lamp is in working order, and the shade is included.

WALTER MOORCROFT VASE - ORCHID & SPRING FLOWERS DESIGN

A large round vase by Walter Moorcroft in the Orchids & Spring Flowers design. This stunning vase has been beautifully decorated with orchids and spring flowers on a high shine cobalt blue background. The Orchid & Spring Flowers design was originally drawn by William Moorcroft in 1937, and further developed by Walter Moorcroft in the late 1940s. The back stamp on the underside of the vase is signed by Walter Moorcroft with the blue WM signature. Also there is MOORCROFT impressed in blue and MADE IN ENGLAND impressed in blue, and also a K painted in blue. This back stamp was used from 1947 to 1953, and makes this vase from the late 1940s or early 1950s. Height of the vase is 8 inches and the diameter is 7 inches at the widest point. There is some crazing on some parts of the outside of the vase, but it is not heavy crazing. Apart from this the vase is in very good condition with no damage and no restoration.

1960s WALTER MOORCROFT - DAHLIA DESIGN FOOTED BOWL

A rare beautiful 1960 Walter Moorcroft Dahlia Pattern Footed Bowl, tube lined with a large flower head with red petals & green leaves on a cobalt blue background. The Dahlia design was drawn in 1960 by Walter Moorcroft and the design was used experimentally for a short period. So this is a rare piece. The underside of the bowl has a back stamp which has “Walter Moorcroft’s" signature and an impressed "MADE IN ENGLAND". It also has the original paper lable “POTTERS TO THE LATE QUEEN MARY”. The Diameter of the bowl is 6 inches, and the height is 2 inches. The bowl is in excellent condition.

WALTER MOORCROFT - HIBISCUS PATTERN WITH BUD CERAMIC LAMP BASE

A 1950s ceramic lamp base decorated in the Walter Moorcroft Hibiscus design. Walter Moorcroft designed the Hibiscus pattern in 1949, being inspired by the arrival of pressed flowers from Jamaica. His design was redesigned in 1960 when the buds were removed to balance the colours. This lamp base's Hibiscus design has the buds, and so this piece is from 1949 to 1959. The lamp is of a slim baluster form, and has tube lined decoration of Hibiscus flowers in burgundy/blue/yellow with green leaves on a blue/green background. The back stamp on the underside of the base has MOORCROFT impressed in blue, and MADE IN ENGLAND impressed in blue. This back stamp was used from the early 1950s. Height of the lamp base is 12.5 inches (14 inches with the light fitting); and the diameter at the widest point is 7 inches.The lamp base is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing.

PLEASE NOTE: The lamp base has not been electrically tested. As with all second hand electrical goods, it is recommended that the purchaser has it electrically tested by a professional before using it.

MOORCROFT PLATE - TORRIDON PATTERN BY PHILIP GIBSON

A Moorcroft Plate with the beautiful Torridon Pattern designed by Philip Gibson, and the plate is in the 783/8 shape. The design is based on the bird "The Great Northern Diver, or North American Loon", which can be found in Torridon flapping its small wings ferociously to fly. It uses them to communicate its location and to dive for trout in the Torridon's shallow waters. Torridon is a special design by Philip Gibson of Moorcroft as part of his PHILIP GIBSON presents range, produced for just one year in 2004 and has now been withdrawn. The following marks are on the base; "MOORCROFT, MADE IN STOKE ON TRENT, ENGLAND, 2004. Diameter 8.75 inches. In excellent condition.

A Walter Moorcroft inverted rim bowl in the Columbine design, and produced around 1955. The Columbine design was first drawn in 1947. The backstamp impressed on the underside of the bowl is, "MOORCROFT, MADE IN ENGLAND". The diameter of the bowl is 4.5 inches, and the height is 1.5 inches. In excellent condition.

MOORCROFT PIN DISH - BUTTERCUP PATTERN

A Moorcroft pin dish in the "Buttercup" pattern, on a cobalt blue background. This pin dish was designed by Sally Tuffin. The following marks are on the base; "MOORCROFT, MADE IN ENGLAND". It also has the candlestick mark impressed to the base, which is the mark for 1992 as the year of production. In addition, it includes the original blue Moorcroft box. The diameter is 4.5 inches. In excellent condition.

JAMES MACINTYRE & CO. - BLUE & WHITE COFFEE CAN

A James MacIntyre & Co., blue and white coffee can . The back stamp to the base of the coffee can are, "MACINTYRE, BURSLEM, above and below a circle containing a 'M' and 'J' entwined. This back stamp was used from 1904 to 1913, and is from the time when William Moorcroft was Art Director for James MacIntyre & Co. Height is 2.5" and diameter is 2.25". In good condition.

1930s WILLIAM MOORCROFT - BERRY & LEAF DESIGN VASE

An early Berry & Leaf pattern vase in the 188 shape, with fine tube lining of a continuous garland of leaves and berries in lovely colours on a shaded olive to deep sea green background. The vase has large leaves surrounded by smaller berries. The Berry & Leaf pattern was designed by William Moorcroft in 1928 and was produced up to 1935. There is a repair to the rim of the vase for a part 3/8th inches long and 1/16th inches in depth. The repair uses the original part, but the repair is visible, hence the low price for the vase. The Back Stamp on the underside of the vase has “William Moorcroft”s signature in blue; and POTTER TO H.M. THE QUEEN and MADE IN ENGLAND both impressed to the base. The height of the vase is 4 inches, and the diameter at the widest part is 4 inches. The diameter of the mouth of the vase is 2 inches. Apart from the repair to the rim, the vase is in very good condition.

WILLIAM MOORCROFT VASE - POMEGRANATE DESIGN

A William Moorcroft Baluster shaped vase in the Pomegranate design. The body of the vase is tubelined decorated with a band of pomegranates with leaves and berries on a cobalt blue background. The Pomegranate design was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1910. The back stamp on the underside of the vase has the painted William Moorcroft signature in blue. Also there is MOORCROFT impressed in blue, and MADE IN ENGLAND impressed in green. In addition there is the figure 66 impressed on the base. The height of the vase is 9.5 inches, and the diameter at the widest point is 5.25 inches. A hole has been professionally drilled at the lowest part of the vase for it to be used as a lamp base. There is a mall chip at the base on the outside of the vase. A hairline crack on the outside of the base, but it does not extend into the inside of the vase. There is dulling of the cobalt blue background around parts of the bottom of the body of the vase.

RARE WILLIAM MOORCROFT - GREEN LUSTREWARE VASE

A rare 1920s William Moorcroft Green Lustreware baluster shaped vase. Monochrome lustrewares were first produced by William Moorcroft in 1916. Vase has a shiny green glaze which gives it its lustre. Height of the vase is 15 inches, and the diameter at the widest point is 8 inches. There is one hairline crack on the top of the rim only, and 3 small chips on the outside body of the vase.

This back stamp was used from 1928 to 1936, and so the vase is from the 1920s/1930s. . The height of the vase is 5 inches, and the diameter at the widest point is 4.5 inches. The mouth of the vase has a diameter of 2.75 inches. The vase is in excellent condition.

WALTER MOORCROFT OVOID VASE - HIBISCUS DESIGN

A 1950s Walter Moorcroft ovoid vase in the Hibiscus design. It has tubelined burgundy coloured Hibiscus flowers with buds and green leaves, all on a cobalt blue background. The Hibiscus design by Walter Moorcroft which had the bud was first designed in 1949. From 1960 the whole Hibiscus design was redrawn to get the right balance of colour between the flower & background which meant omitting the bud. So this vase which has the bud is from 1949 to 1950s. The Back Stamp on the underside of the vase has the Walter Moorcroft signature (WM) In blue, as well as having an impressed MOORCROFT and impressed MADE IN ENGLAND both in blue. This Back Stamp was used from 1947 to 1953. In addition, the Back Stamp has the paper lable with "BY APPOINTMENT; W. Moorcroft; POTTERS TO THE LATE QUEEN MARY". This lable was used from 1953. Height of the vase is 8 inches, with the diameter at the widest point being 5.5 inches. The diameter of the mouth of the vase is 3 inches. The vase is in excellent condition and has no crazing, chips, cracks or restoration.

The pattern was developed into a full range by Walter Moorcroft from 1946. The Clematis design was used on certain shapes in very limited numbers. The Clematis design is decorated with purple & pink flowers and green foliage, on a cobalt blue background. The Back Stamp on the base of the vase has Walter Moorcroft’s signature, and has MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND marks impressed to the base all in blue. This Back Stamp was used from 1947 to 1953. The height of the vase is 6 inches, and the width at the widest point is 6 inches. The mouth of the vase is 5.5 inches in diameter. The vase is in excellent condition.
